Also called Search My Library's Catalog
This is a feature that libraries with Z39.50 compliant library catalogs can sign up for. A subscriber's Account License Administrator simply inputs the catalog profile into the MY ACCOUNT area of booksinprint.com. Then when library staff members or patrons highlight a title and click Search My Librarys Catalog, they can find out whether the library owns the highlighted title. They can also find its availability or location within the library if this information is provided in their catalog. If a library has a consortium account and has several catalogs, users can choose which catalog to search.
When users select a title, they arrive either at a drop down menu that lets them choose a catalog (if more than one is available) or at a screen that lists the library's holdings for that title. Users can view search results in a brief format, full description format, or in USMARC format -- simply by clicking a tab (as shown below).
For patrons, the new Search My Librarys Catalog feature will save time and significantly reduce frustration. This feature also gives acquisitions librarians the ability to easily see which titles they currently own, so they can make purchase lists.
